In August, I took a step back from the newsletter. As Summer started to dip, I felt an urge to free myself from routine and enjoy the remaining warmth with family. It was exactly what I wanted and needed at the time.
My writing routine, more or less unchanged since I started writing Ephemera back in the second half of 2020, has been to sit down first thing on Saturday with a coffee and my writing buffer. I’d muse, find a topic of interest, research a bit, and draft. On the last Saturday of the month, I’d give the whole thing a bit of a polish and schedule it to go out. As is my wont, I pursued this creative endevour as I do most: with discipline and regimine.
In early September, I returned to this practice. Almost at once, I named something I’d been sensing for some time. The practice no longer serves me as it once did. I love to write, but this particular way and this particular medium had become a chore. I feel unable to let that stand; writing cannot be something I’d rather put off.
The time is right that I release this practice and pick up others. Ephemera will remain online, and I may write irregularly as the mood strikes me.
For now, I’ll go for a walk.
Well done. Have a nice walk.
